The infiswift booth saw tremendous traffic over three days of the largest IoT-focused conference in the world with over 10,000 attendees at IoT World 2016 in Santa Clara, CA. It was a really broad range of attendees too from freelance developers to other IoT service providers to solar developers. We got a great update on the industry, learning about the needs of those looking for IoT services and the offerings of others in the space!
It was great to share some background on infiswift and how our core connectivity platform can enable so much in IoT. While there was fair skepticism from many who visited at first given the number of IoT platforms out there, sharing how we are different being built from the ground up rather than using off-the-shelf components, as a majority of platforms are, got people really interested! Strong benchmarking didn’t hurt either ☺.
Learning from other exhibitors, attendees and speakers was also really interesting. On the security front, there was lots of talk about whether blockchain may be of use in IoT applications. While we don’t see it as viable currently due to ledger size restrictions, it will be interesting to monitor. Use cases were certainly all the rage – everyone wants to use IoT but wants a clear path to monetization. An interesting use case in aviation was using IoT to track baggage to decrease risk associated with baggage loss for airlines.
It was also fun to hear the FBI encouraging us not to give up our privacy for convenience through oversharing. All in all, it was a fantastic event and great learning opportunity. We hope to see you at the next one!
